After finishing the writing part of her first book, author Forest was successful in getting a contract from Harlequin. Her stories are usually full of dragons, wands, and dryads. Forest enjoys drinking her strong tea while writing the stories as she believes that it helps her come up with interesting ideas. She likes to sit in a peaceful environment beside a wood stove and dream about her unique fantasy stories and intriguing characters. Author Forest hails from Vermont, United States, and lives in the deep backwoods of the state. She is particularly very famous for writing the Black Witch series of books. Light Mage (The Black Witch Chronicles #1.Laurie Forest is a noteworthy novelist from the United States, who is well known for writing romance, young adult, fantasy, magic, and adventure novels. The Black Witch (The Black Witch Chronicles #1) I love it.Ī short and sweet story but also gives readers a glimpse into the world of Erthia before the Gardenarians came into power. Emotions and desires are played out in the movements of their magic. While Gardenarians seem to be all repression and restraint on the exterior, these elemental magic lines give them away. I love the romance of the affinity lines. This story gives us more of the history of Erthia, through the fasting story of Tessla and Vale, the son of the original Black Witch. This is the same treatment that we are used to seeing the Gardenarian’s apply to all other races 20 years later. She is raised with Kelt rules in which she can’t pray to her God, can’t show her people’s flag and is generally shunned in the village because she is a Gardenarian. This was so well done as the story starts with Tessla, a poor girl living on the border of Gardenerian and Kelt territories. It focuses on the Gardenarian takeover of Erthia. This is a short story taking place a generation prior to Elloren Gardner and the events of The Black Witch.
